Rescind Article V Convention Applications
I urge you to rescind all existing state applications for an Article V constitutional convention.
An Article V convention is a dangerous idea that could wipe out the Constitution and the God-given freedoms it protects. Instead of trying to change our Constitution, we need to begin enforcing it. Just because the Constitution isn't being enforced now, doesn't mean we should throw it away.
Our elected officials have taken an oath to protect and defend our Constitution. Thus, they should enforce -- not change -- the Constitution by nullifying all unconstitutional federal laws, regulations, executive orders, and court rulings.
Here is a model rescission resolution that I urge you to introduce and support: jbs.org/assets/pdf/Model-State-Con-Con-Rescission-Resolution.pdf
Please rescind every application for an Article V constitutional convention -- and instead work to enforce the Constitution.
Revoke Every Article V Con-Con Application
I strongly request that you revoke (i.e. rescind) every application for an Article V Con-Con. Any convention, regardless of the particular topic, could make damaging changes to the Constitution and its protections of our God-given freedoms.
If Congress and the President aren't obeying the existing Constitution, why should we think they'll obey an amended Constitution?
Rather than trying to change the Constitution -- which is a dangerous Pandora's Box, threatening its protections of our God-given rights -- we should enforce it.
Thus, we must revoke every existing application for an Article V Con-Con. If you haven't already, please introduce a rescission resolution like this one: jbs.org/assets/pdf/Model-State-Con-Con-Rescission-Resolution.pdf
Please introduce and pass a resolution to rescind all Article V Con-Con applications.
Stop a Con-Con -- Instead, Rescind All Applications
Please oppose all applications for an Article V convention (or, Con-Con) -- instead, please rescind every already-passed application for a convention.
An Article V convention is an unnecessary and dangerous idea. There's a reason why our Constitution has been the supreme law of the land for well over 200 years. It is one of the greatest documents ever created and strongly protects individual freedom.
Why jeopardize the best form of government ever created by man?
By contrast, an Article V convention would open up the Constitution to radical changes that expand, or legitimize, the power of government over our lives.
Please rescind every application. Here is a model resolution you can introduce for this: jbs.org/assets/pdf/Model-State-Con-Con-Rescission-Resolution.pdf
Please rescind every resolution, and instead, please enforce the Constitution.
Rescind Article V Applications
I implore you to support and enact a resolution that rescinds every existing application for an Article V Con-Con.
This process is extremely risky and could give us a completely new Constitution. This danger is based on the precedent of the 1787 Constitutional Convention. An Article V constitutional convention would have the power to make major changes to the Constitution, or even completely rewrite it, including changing the ratification process to make adoption of the revised constitution easier. This danger is referred to as "a runaway convention."
With such risk, we must rescind every Con-Con application. Here is a model resolution you can introduce: jbs.org/assets/pdf/Model-State-Con-Con-Rescission-Resolution.pdf
As already written, the U.S. Constitution strongly protects our individual liberties. But we must fully enforce it and not tolerate any lack of enforcement. Thus, please rescind every application for an Article V Con-Con.
Withdraw All Article V Convention Applications
I urge you to withdraw (or rescind) every application for an Article V convention.
The purpose of Article V is to correct errors in the Constitution. But what, exactly, is wrong in the Constitution that requires it to be changed? The Constitution is one of the greatest documents in human history, and unlike other constitutions, it limits (not enables) government. If it isn’t broken, then it doesn’t need to be fixed.
The danger in calling such a convention is that it would have the power to make major changes in the Constitution, or even completely rewrite it, including changing the ratification process to make adoption of the revised constitution easier. This danger is referred to as "a runaway convention."
Please introduce and/or support a resolution like this one: jbs.org/assets/pdf/Model-State-Con-Con-Rescission-Resolution.pdf
I urge you to support withdrawing every application for an Article V convention, regardless of its topic.
