Join Rep. Brooks and Protect Traveling Gun Owners
Gun Owners of America endorses Rep. Mo Brooks’ Lawful Interstate Transportation of Firearms Act and so do I.
I urge you to become an original co-sponsor of this necessary legislation protecting my rights.
Current federal law exempts me from gun control prohibitions and regulations if I transport a firearm locked and unloaded from one place of legal possession to another.
But sometimes while traveling, I may need to stop for gas, or medical treatment, or to stop and sleep rather than drive while drowsy—among many other things.
Laws in many anti-gun states would have me arrested for these fundamental travel-related activities, even if I comply with the Firearms Owners’ Protection Act (FOPA).
Also, other malicious state laws unconstitutionally criminalize what would otherwise be considered law-abiding activity for the explicit purposes of making my gun ownership, possession, and transportation more difficult.
It is un-American to have me arrested for stopping for gas, lunch, or medical treatment while transporting unloaded, secured, and lawfully owned firearms, magazines, or ammunition.
Rep. Brooks’ legislation compliments the Second Amendment in its mission to protect Americans from governmental infringement on the right to keep and bear arms.
I strongly urge you to join Congressman Mo Brooks by immediately cosponsoring the Lawful Interstate Transportation of Firearms Act.
