Please support the Electoral College
I am writing to share my support for the Electoral College, which protects our voice. The National Popular Vote bill would give away our state’s power in presidential elections based on the vote in other states. Doing that is probably unconstitutional, but it also would sell out our people here. We should keep the Electoral College as it is to protect our voice.
oppose npv
Supporters of a national popular vote for President claim it would simplify how we vote. However, they don’t consider how it will change campaigns, letting candidates cater to big cities and suburbs while ignoring everybody else. The President is the leader of the nation, not just one region, but a national popular vote would let a regional candidate win. It also could lead to a lot of candidates running and so the winner might have support from just a small segment of the country. The Electoral College is all that stands in the way of this happening. Please oppose efforts to create a national popular vote for President.
Electoral College is important
I am reaching out to you today to make sure that know how important it is to protect the Electoral College and stop efforts to create a national popular vote. The President serves as the voice of the nation, not just the big cities or one region of the country. He serves the people of every state equally, but a national popular vote would let more radical political parties or billionaire candidates try to win with support from just one part of the country. The Electoral College was set up as a balance for national elections and I hope you will protect this important election process.
Retain the Electoral College
More now than ever we must maintain the integrity of our elections so that people can trust the outcomes. I see efforts to get rid of the Electoral College as a major threat. The push for a national popular vote for President would let politicians pander to a select few areas of the country, especially if they can run up their vote totals in giant cities or suburbs, and ignore everyone else. As a voter I am urging you to do everything you can to make sure we retain the Electoral College, as it was intended.
Protect the EC
Protecting the Electoral College is about preserving the integrity of our presidential elections. We cannot let misguided attempts to create a national popular vote destroy our ability to elect a President who represents the entire country, not just a few big cities or counties. Please do whatever you can to protect the Electoral College and stop the push for a national popular vote.
Oppose a national popular vote
We need to guarantee our national elections remain fair and represent the broad needs of the nation, not just a few populous states. That is why we need to make sure to oppose the push for a national popular vote. I urge you to do your part to protect our Constitution.
Save the Electoral College
Don’t let the Electoral College be hijacked by uninformed people who want to nullify it and create a national popular vote. That would destroy our election system and go against the Constitution. Please oppose any push for a national popular vote.
- Vote fraud in another state could cancel out votes here—and we couldn’t do anything about it.
- A close election would force us to have a nationwide recount, like Florida in 2000 times 50!
- Just one county in California (LA County) has ten million people—presidential elections would focus on big cities and everyone else would be left out.
Please support the Electoral College and oppose attempts to manipulate or nullify it.
I'm against NPV
I am strongly against a national popular vote for president. This strongly partisan issue would undermine the way our founding fathers intended presidential elections to be run, upsetting the balance of power among the states in favor of the biggest cities. Please stand up for our Electoral College process and our state.
Protect the EC
We must protect the Electoral College for presidential elections. I want to urge you to oppose the push for a national popular vote. We need to stick with the constitutional process we have had since the very beginning of our nation.
NPV is dangerous
I want to let you know that there is a dangerous campaign pushing for a national popular vote for President. This is an effort to manipulate the Constitution. It could take away our state’s voice in presidential elections. More likely it would end up in lawsuits and more partisan anger and distrust. I hope you will stand up for the Constitution and the Electoral College process.
protect the electoral college
The attacks we’ve been hearing against the Electoral College are at best ignorant. It protects the balance of power between the states. A national popular vote—which people are pushing as an alternative--would take power from the states and give it to big cities and to Washington, DC. How would that protect fairness? That is why I am urging you to do everything to protect the Electoral College.
NPV is bad
We must protect the Electoral College. The push for a national popular vote for president would destroy fairness in national elections and break from our founding father’s intentions. Please do you part to oppose this dangerous plan.
NPV is misleading
National Popular Vote is a misleading campaign that would go against our founding fathers. If this legislation were to pass it would end the Electoral College and allow a few counties across the country to control our Presidential elections. We cannot let this happen, so please do your part to oppose NPV.
Please support the Electoral College
I am writing to share my support for the Electoral College. Currently, there is an effort to nullify the Electoral College which is called National Popular Vote.
NPV is a bad idea for many reasons. It would allow a candidate to win with support from just one region or a few big cities. It would also increase the risks from election fraud or disputes. And NPV would create the potential for nationwide recounts and endless lawsuits.
I hope you will support the Electoral College.
Electoral College is SO important
As a voter, I understand the importance of the Electoral College and why we need to make sure it stays in place. The founding fathers set forth to make sure that the voice of the nation was represented in a fair and just manner. Every state, every region is different. Those people who are pushing a national popular vote don’t seem to care if a few big cities or one region of the country controls everyone else, but I believe that would be wrong. Please stand up for the Electoral College.
Oppose NPV
As a voter I am urging you to oppose efforts to create a national popular vote for President. “We the people…” does not mean just the biggest cities. That is why the American founders created the Electoral College, so that the President would think of the country as a whole. A candidate must win a lot of states in order to become President. Please support the Electoral College.
Stand up for the Electoral College
I am reaching out to you today to make sure that know how important it is to stand up for the Electoral College and oppose efforts to replace it with a national popular vote. The President serves as the voice of the nation, not just the biggest states or cities. Because the system now requires a majority, that means winning a lot of states. A national popular vote would get rid of the majority requirement, leading to lots of candidates running and so the winner might have a very small plurality. The Electoral College was set up as a balance for national elections and I am urging to make sure this remains true.
please protect the electoral college
Protecting the Electoral College is about preserving the integrity of our presidential elections. We cannot let misguided efforts to create a national popular vote destroy our ability to elect an individual who is representative of the entire country, not just a few giant cities or counties. Please do whatever you can to safeguard the Electoral College.
oppose npv
Please oppose attempts to replace or manipulate the Electoral College with a national popular vote for President. The Electoral College was established to make sure our national election process reflected our nation as a whole—all of the states, not just the will of a few really big states. Please oppose any sort of move toward a national popular vote and defend the Electoral College as it is in the Constitution.
Against NPV
As a voter from your district, I just want to let you know that I am staunchly against replacing or manipulating the Electoral College to create a national popular vote, in any form. This was not how our elections were intended to be conducted in the Constitution.
a no from me
Please protect the Electoral College. I wanted to remind you that plans to create a national popular vote sounds good but could damage our country by creating worse divisions and distrust. One piece of evidence is how partisan the campaign against the Electoral College is—that should be a red flag. We need fair elections that people can trust. Keeping the election in each state, and protecting our own state’s voice, is important.
Protect the Electoral College
For the sake of the integrity of our Presidential elections, I am urging you to protect the Electoral College and oppose any effort to create a national popular vote. Our state’s electors represent the people of our state. Altering that would destroy the integrity of the entire election and the balance of power between the states. Please do what you can to protect the state-by-state presidential election process.
