The latest gun control push in Albany would make me a criminal for the ‘crime’ of building a firearm in my own home! Known as 80% lowers, these parts allow gun enthusiasts to make custom firearms just like woodworkers make custom sculptures. These home build gun kits are extremely popular here in New York State, amongst law abiding gun owners. But this bill, (S-13/S-14,) being carried by State Senator Anna Kaplan, would make me a criminal for building these firearms unless I registered the gun with the government! I am sick of being treated like a criminal for the ‘crime’ of being a law abiding gun owner. And I’m sick of lawmakers in Albany fighting to protect criminals (through criminal bail reform laws) instead of law abiding citizens like me! As a voter in your district, I am writing to insist that you ‘VOTE NO’ on this bill (or similar legislation like S-13/S-14) The NYS Firearms Association will monitor this bill and keep me informed of who is supporting it, and who is supporting law abiding gun owners.

While New York State is awash in problems of Governor Cuomo’s making, I think it is outrageous that he and his America-hating leftists in Albany are trying to make criminals out of law abiding gun owners who build firearms in their own home! Governor Cuomo, and his liberty-hating friends have run our state into debt to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars! At the same time, they have allowed illegal aliens to get drivers licenses, which has jeopardized national security! And throughout all of last year they have unleashed thousands of violent criminals back out onto the streets without requiring any bail, after giving them the home address of their victims and any witnesses to their crimes! And now, after all of that, the politicians propose S-13/S-14, which would put me into prison for the ‘crime’ of building a firearm at home using an ‘80% lower’ receiver. This is disgusting! So as my elected official in Albany, I am writing to insist that you ‘VOTE NO’ on these bills which would do nothing to stop criminals, but would make criminals out of law abiding gun owners! I will be monitoring this and the other gun bills in Albany very closely, with the help of the NYS Firearms Association.

As our America-hating Governor and his socialist allies in Albany are trying to make me into a criminal for the ‘crime’ of building a firearm in my home through S13/S-14, they are doing so assuring New Yorkers that this will stop criminals. But that is a flat out lie, and everyone knows it. Especially after what we've seen happening all across the state in 2020. ‘Gun Free Zones’ were supposed to stop criminals. That hasn’t worked. In fact, it has led to over 1,000 Americans being shot or killed in these areas in just the last ten years, because they can’t defend themselves in these areas! Background checks were supposed to stop criminals. That’s hasn’t worked either, as almost every mass shooting of the last decade was carried out by a murderer who first passed a background check! The SAFE ACT was supposed to stop criminals. That has been a complete failure. Forcible rapes, for example, have exploded by over 250% since the passage of the SAFE ACT, showing the stupidity of this law. And passing a bill that makes me into a criminal for the ‘crime’ of building a firearm in my own home using an ‘80% lower’ would be equally ineffective at stopping crime. But stopping crime has never been the goal of Governor Cuomo and his socialist conference in Albany. This is about trying to destroy a God-given and Constitutionally guaranteed right, while trying to make criminals out of countless law abiding New Yorkers! So as my elected official in Albany, I am writing to insist that you ‘VOTE NO’ on S-13/S-14 or any other legislation that bans my right to build a firearm in my own home. I will be paying close attention to this legislation. And I know that the NYS Firearms Association will keep me informed on this bill, too.

As Governor Cuomo and lawmakers in Albany try to make me a criminal for building a gun in my own home using an ‘80% lower,’ they are attempting to justify this bill by claiming that these are the ‘go-to’ firearms of criminals! I wanted to make sure you knew, as my legislator in Albany, how absurd it is to think that criminals are sitting in their basement making these guns as a way to bypass the law. Taking a solid chunk of aluminum or metal and turning it into a functional receiver for a firearm requires precision cutting and drilling at speeds of 25,000 rpm’s and in dimensions that are measured at 1/1,000th of an inch. The idea that a criminal has the skill, tools, and knowledge to build these firearms is simply laughable, and everyone knows it! Are some criminals arrested with these homemade firearms in their possession? Sure. They get them just like they get the rest of the firearms that they use in carrying out their crimes: by stealing them or buying them from fellow criminals on the street. This only underscores the fact that gun control has never stopped committed criminals from getting their hands on firearms. So as a constituent in your district, I strongly insist that you ‘VOTE NO’ on S-13/S-14 or any other legislation that would make me a criminal for building a firearm in my own home, as gun owners have been doing for decades!
