Support for Animal Health Care
Thank you for all you are doing as I understand and appreciate the government is extremely busy with Covid-19 right now.
I write to bring attention to the BC Animal Owners Association whose work I support.
BCAOA has been working with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries to create a collaborative environment in which highly skilled practitioners of non-veterinary animal health practices can independently practice, in the open, and in cooperation with veterinarians in BC.
Why is that? Animal owners are certainly accessing hoof care, massage, bodywork, rehab physiotherapy, chiropractic, homeopathic, herbal therapies, traditional Chinese medicine, and many other non-veterinary health practices – but the framework to allow independent non-veterinary practice along veterinarians – has not been created.
The people of BC have certainly benefited from the integrated, collaborative relationship in human health practice we have experienced in BC for the past 30 years. It would be natural to think this change also extended to animal health care. But this is not the case.
I am asking that you keep the vision of animal owners in the forefront and I ask that efforts be undertaken to change the way animal care is delivered in BC.
Thank you for your support!
