Reciprocity will back Schumer off his liberal wish-list
There is some evidence that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer intend to make more political demands before signing off on the COVID-19 Phase 4 relief package.
There are even indications that anti-gun Democrats in the House are demanding that Red Flag gun confiscation orders be added to the relief bill. I would urge you to categorically reject any Coronavirus-related bill that contains Red Flag gun confiscation.
Even so, the more likely gambit is that the anti-gun Left will demand mail-in ballots -- a system that is already rife with fraud and which disproportionately benefits anti-gun Democrats.
I would urge you to oppose this, as well. If the Democrats inject their election-year agenda into the Coronavirus debate, Republicans will be fools if they don’t do the same.
If forced to vote on the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act and the Veterans’ 2nd Amendment Protection Act, anti-gun Democrats would lose their majority in the House and probably lose seats in the Senate.
Senate Republicans fought this same battle in 2013 -- and won.
Senators John Cornyn and Richard Burr offered the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act and the Veterans’ 2nd Amendment Protection Act, respectively, as amendments to Harry Reid’s gun control bill (S. 649).
Not only did pro-gun forces kill every word of gun control, the Senate that killed them picked up GOP seats in the 2014 election.
All it took was pushing forward a pro-active agenda, rather than sitting on defense.
For this reason, I urge you to offer pro-active pro-gun amendments to future Coronavirus-related packages IF Speaker Pelosi attempts to do the same type of thing on the House side.
Just as you can't win a gun fight with a rock, you can't beat a politically charged agenda with a politically dead one.
Nothing will move voters in November more effectively than the Second Amendment.
