Oppose the anti-gun Senate amendment to HB140
I am writing today to urge you to reject the Senate’s amendment to House Bill No. 140.
As originally passed by this chamber, HB140 strengthened Louisiana’s preemption law to further protect law-abiding citizens from being turned into criminals simply by crossing a parish or municipal boundary line.
This amendment, however, completely changes HB140. It takes a pro-gun bill, the purpose of which is to protect law-abiding gun owners across Louisiana, and turns it into an anti-gun bill that not only expands the authority of parish and local governments to prohibit the possession of firearms, but further restricts my right and my ability to protect myself and my family.
When HB140 was originally taken up by the House, this chamber overwhelmingly supported the bill. I ask that you do so again and reject the Senate amendment to House Bill No. 140.
Thank you.
Please support my 2A rights!
