Disburse Federal Funding to Nonprofits
Please reverse the new state policy that makes nonprofits ineligible for federal Coronavirus Relief Funds if they received Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. Community nonprofits have remained on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic, delivering essential services while facing unbudgeted expenses to protect staff and clients.
If nonprofits are arbitrarily denied federal and state support during this pandemic because they received federal loans meant to pay their employees, they will not be able to make ends meet; they will close their doors and the state will lose its safety net.
Funding should be increased for community nonprofits, not cut. Underfunded to begin with, nonprofit costs and demands for service have increased substantially due to COVID-19.
Thank you for your support.
