For working parents, single parent households, minority households, and households with special needs children, it is imperative that there is an alternative to schooling when local and state school districts are shutting their doors. The School Choice Now Act and SCHOOL ACT will provide those parents control of their educational decisions. When the schools were shut down by our Governors it was hard enough for the average student, but extremely hard on the special education students and their families, as distance virtual learning was an epic failure for these children. You see those with Autism and cognitive disabilities are not able to do the tasks without assistance. When distance learning was implemented, the responsibilities of an entire special education team, such as Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Adaptive PE, and one on one Para assistance have been put on the parent to implement. Problems like this are solved by this bill because federal and state school funds can be given directly to parents, so they can hire at home services.
