NY - Reject Dominion Democracy Suite 5.16

New York is in the process of approving a new generation of voting machines that will affect our communities and the issues we care about for the next 10 years or more.

We are very concerned that new voting machines coming into the state of New York do not meet the high standards we want in our voting technology.

We are concerned about Dominion Democracy Suite 5.16 for a number of reasons:

  • Independent research confirmed by the federal government shows serious problems.
  • There is not enough evidence that these problems have been corrected in the new version submitted to New York.
  • The state’s own security labs found very serious issues with the source code.
  • The software design on two of these voting machines can reveal the votes of individual voters.
  • This system's hardware and software were released to the public in circumstances that experts say make the machines risky to use.

Voting machines count our votes. It is necessary for them to function correctly in order for the will of the people to be clearly expressed and honored. It's critically important we ensure that each voting machine is secure, accessible, accurate, protects our privacy, and will not create long lines to vote. When there are questions about our voting systems, confidence and participation decline.

Please send a letter to officials at the New York Board of Elections asking them to reject the Dominion ICX for use in New York State, due to the very serious privacy and security risks that have been reported on the system by both independent security researchers and New York State’s own testing labs.

The letter will automatically go to all state commissioners and key staff. There is a suggested draft, but you may change it as you wish. If you want a copy, please make one before you send the letter.
