I am completely opposed to having a discussion on DeWine’s gun control agenda in a multi-thousand-page, multi-faceted appropriations bill. As you know, Governor DeWine attempted to pass his Democrat-approved gun control agenda during the last General Assembly with SB 221, which totally and completely failed when it did not gain enough support to pass on its own. For Governor DeWine to hijack and hold the state budget process hostage so he can attempt to advance an extreme and radicalized agenda when he lacks the ability to do so otherwise is corrupt and amounts to political extortion. Under section 2935.01, the Ohio warrant system is being expanded to create de-facto federal firearm prohibitors and represents a seismic shift in the law from disability via adjudication to disability via declaration. Ohio’s current firearms disability law, 2923.13, specifies that warrants are not grounds for disability to “knowingly acquire, have, carry, or use any firearm.” We are totally opposed to this proposed change in Ohio law because it flips the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments on their head by nullifying the beautiful American doctrine of “innocent until proven guilty.” By doing so, it paves the way for a massive expansion of declaratory, rather than adjudicatory, gun-control in the future. Citizens should not lose their rights based on “probable cause” alone without the conviction of a crime by a jury, especially considering that the basis for probable cause in court is sometimes based on biased, rebuttable “evidence” in ex parte hearings presided over by increasingly left-leaning, activist judges. For these reasons, we demand that the General Assembly remove section 2935.01 of HB 110 from the budget entirely. By including these gun-control expansions in the state operating budget, DeWine is using you, the members of the Ohio General Assembly, for political cover to pass his gun control agenda in the calculated hope of avoiding the slings and arrows he would face in the 2022 Republican Primary were he to pursue his agenda through the appropriate channel of a standalone bill. Thus, anyone who votes to aid, abet, advance, pass, or otherwise supports this legislation with this section intact will be making an anti-gun vote, and constituents in your districts will be educated on your actions.

Governor DeWine's budget bill (HB110) requires that data be submitted to the NCIC federal database that will be used to disqualify Ohioans from purchasing or owning firearms - without being indicted, charged, or convicted of a crime! Rep Bill Dean is offering an amendment that would STRIP DeWine's gun-control out of the state budget, and I'm asking you to SUPPORT and vote YES on his amendment!

Is the legislature going along with letting DeWine use the budget bill to pass his gun-control? In case you didn't know it is in there, it is. And I expect you to vote to STRIP it out by supporting Rep Bill Dean's amendment to do just that. DeWine is playing the members of the Ohio General Assembly for fools, using you for political cover to pass his gun control agenda in the calculated hope of avoiding the slings and arrows he would face in the 2022 Republican Primary were he to pursue his agenda through the appropriate channel of a standalone bill. STOP Mike DeWine's attacks on our firearm freedoms. DeWine is trying to hijack the budget in order to pass his gun-control, and it is shameful. It would be far more shameful for you to support the budget without FIRST stripping out his gun-control agenda. If he wants to pass his gun-control, strip it out of the budget and force him to introduce it as a stand-alone bill! Either way, please STOP this tyrant immediately!
