Arizona Defend The Guard Bill
I am writing to express my support for SB 1367 and HB 2320 and ask that you vote in favor of persevering the clearly defined powers in the Constitution that "Congress shall have the authority to declare war."
We must insist that congress do their job and not let the President take the United States into war without the proper action of a Congressional Declaration. The Arizona National Guard should not be fighting endless wars that have not been declared.
If we must fight a war, then we must fight with the full weight of support of the people.
Please vote to pass Defend The Guard, SB 1367 and HB 2320.
YES! Defend The Arizona Guard
FInally! This bill is simple...follow the Constitution's road map for committing America and Arizona citizens to war BEFORE we go to war. Such a simple bill with clear language.
Please support SB 1367 and HB 2320. The men and women in uniform are worthy of the correct process that sends them into war. The will and support of the people, through their representatives in Congress, must declare war before we put another boot on the ground in a foreign nation.
Vote YES for SB 1367 and HB 2320.
Vote YES for SB 1367 and HB 2320
Please vote in favor of HB 2320 and SB 1367- Defend The Guard.
On a straight party-line vote in Military Affairs committee, the Republican senators voted to pass the bill and the democrats voted to kill it.
Either the democrats love war and believe the President can/should send the military to fight anywhere at anytime that he chooses, OR they do not respect the Constitution that defines CONGRESS as the only body with the authority to declare war.
I support the Constitution. I support the Arizona National Guard. I support SB 1367 and HB 2320 and I am asking you to support it too.
Defend The Arizona Guard. Vote YES on SB 1367 and HB 2320.
Defend Arizona National Guard
Please vote yes for HB 2320 and SB 1367.
We support our troops. We love the Arizona National Guard. We believe in the clear language of the US Constitution.
Vote yes on SB 1367 and HB 2320.
I support Defend The Guard- Please vote yes.
SB 1367 passed through the committee on a party line vote. I do not understand why the Democrats on the committee are opposed to a requirement for Congress to declare war before Arizona National Guardsmen put their boots on the ground. The constitution is clear...Congress has the authority to declare war.
Now HB 2320 is moving through the house. When the two bills are passed and sent to the governor's desk, Arizona will send a very clear message to the federal government...NO WAR UNLESS THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PEOPLE HAVE DECLARED IT!
If we are going to send Americans to die in a foreign nation, and if we are going to spend American treasure to be buried inside foreign borders, then we should honor that price being paid by honoring the process defined in our inspired constitution.
Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 of the U.S. Constitution grants Congress the power to declare war...not the president...not the department of defense...and not the special interests who sell weapons and defense contracts all over the world.
Vote yes for SB 1367 and HB 2320.
The Constitution is clear...Congress shall declare war
Not the president.
Not the DoD.
Not the career administrative state.
CONGRESS!
Congress should put their name on a Declaration of War and then defend that action with their constituents before they send our sons and daughters to fight and die half-way around the world.
Pass Defend The Guard. Vote yes for SB 1367 AND HB 2320.
SB 1367/HB 2320- Vote Yes
Please support HB 2320 & SB 1367. The Arizona National Guard should not be deployed to overseas wars that have not been declared by Congress.
Defend The Guard is constitutional and I am asking you to vote yes.
The republican senators in MAPS committee voted bravely to support the bill passing through the committee while the democrats voted to block it. Do the democrats believe that the President should be able to wage war without Congress declaring it?
The democrats have become the war-party.
If war is inevitable, then send us to fight. But send us with the proper authority. Send us with a Congressional Declaration of War and demonstrate the will of the people! And then let us go and fight with a clear mission, let us WIN, and then let us come home.
SB1367 & HB 2320- Vote yes.
This is simple...Congress has the authority to declare war. That is a very somber responsibility that they have abdicated for 80 years.
Congress hasn't declared war since 1942. Since that time, Presidents from both parties have taken young American men and women into nations around the world to fight endless wars with no clear mission or purpose.
Generals have failed and never been held accountable. Congress refuses to do their job and the cost is American lives and treasure. The Generals rotate through the theater of operations in these endless wars and they bring a new vision, new strategy, new tactics...but they all deliver the same results. They lie about their successes and cover up their failures. The Afghanistan Papers proved those failures and pointed the finger at Congress for not maintaining their control and authority over war. Generals are never called before powerful committees to answer for successes or failures and progress reports are shaded with inflated successes.
Congress must do their job...their most important job...before the US Military deploys on foreign mis-adventures of the Presidents choosing.
Arizona must force Congress to do their job.
Vote YES on SB 1367 and HB 2320. We demand it.
Senate Bill 1367and HB 2320- war powers
The State of Arizona must stand up. The federal government has abandoned us. Our private property is under an invasion. Our safety is in jeopardy. Our rule of law is ignored.
And the Federal government is doing nothing.
The Arizona National Guard has a Constitutional duty to do three things; 1) Enforce the laws of the union, 2) Put down an insurrection, and 3) Repel and invasion.
A declaration of war from Congress that is signed by the president becomes the "law of the union" and the National Guard should then go and fight and win.
Without a declaration of war, the Arizona National Guard should be HERE repelling an invasion.
The Attorney General offered his opinion that the situation on the border is an invasion. The Texas governor declared an invasion. California has finished their border wall...but the Arizona border remains open and the wall unfinished.
The Arizona National Guard deserves our very best because we demand their very best. They deserve the full support and authority of the United States before they are asked to risk their lives and American treasure in overseas wars of choice.
Pass Defend The Guard. This is the easiest concept to understand with even a limited understanding of Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution.
This one is EASY. Vote YES on SB 1367 and HB 2320.
SB1367 and HB2320- YES
I support HB 2320 and SB1367. Senator Borrelli, Senator Rogers, Senator Farnsworth, and Senator Gowan voted in favor of this bill in the committee. Borrelli and Rogers speeches were inspiring and all Republicans should listen and take notes. All republicans voted for it on the Senate floor and the democrats spoke and voted against it. I don't understand why.
The three democrats on the committee voted no. They offered no comments. They asked no questions. They simple voted NO showing that they believe that Biden should have the authority to take Arizona sons and daughters off to fight wars that he wants to fight. What do the democrats know that we don't? Why didn't they ask questions or make statements.
Only Senator Sundareshan stood on the floor and read a poorly written script that was clearly authored by a DEMA spokesman or member of the uni-war-party. They want to accountability and no restraints when it comes to military deployment and occupation around the world. The Founding Fathers thought otherwise and sensible Americans who understand the dangers of an unrestrained executive branch agree.
The democrats couldn't even offer an empty statement of "We support the troops" before they callously voted to allow them to be taken to the Horn of Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Oman, or the South China Sea without a congressional declaration of war.
The Republicans in the Senate did the heavy lift and now it is up to the members in the House of Representatives who must link arms and vote yes on SB 1367 and HB 2320. The democrats have become the party of endless war...but why?
Vote yes on SB 1367 and HB 2320. The Constitution is clear, Congress has the authority to declare war. And if they do declare war, look out because the Arizona National Guard will be the first out the door to fight and win and return home.
Vote YES on SB1367 and HB 2320.
LET DEFEND THE GUARD BE HEARD
Why is the Speaker and MAPS Chairman blocking a bill that passed by the Senate and then sent to the House? Sounds like an abuse of power.
The Speaker said he is blocking the bill because he has "concerns" over federal funding.
Let the members of the house committee hold a hearing and let them decide if the Speakers "concerns" are valid and legitimate or just more of the same political self-funding, back-scratching, self preservation.
Let SB1367 have a committee hearing in the house.
Stop blocking pro-veteran legislation
Chairman Toma has a misunderstanding of the legislative process.
The Senate passed SB1367 and now Speaker Toma thinks he has the duty to block the House from hearing any bill that he has personal concerns about?
The people demand that he let SB1367 move into the MAPS committee. The bill will either stand on it's own merits or it will fail by them. Either way, the Committee of representatives elected by the people of Arizona should hear this bill.
Let Defend The Guard, and any other bills passed by the Senate that your are unilaterally blocking, move forward. Don't subvert the process and the will of the people.
You are only in the legislature because of the will of the people. Honor that duty. Let SB1367 proceed to the committee.
Toma- Get out of the way!
You are the Speaker, not the King.
You were elected to be Speaker by the members of the house...not by the people. The People voted for the senators that passed SB1367 and The People voted for the Representatives on the committee who should hear and vote on SB1367.
Your actions are no better than the tyrant governors who locked down businesses and churches and schools during the pandemic. You are a tyrant.
We have a way of dealing with tyrants. Our recourse is on election day. We will tie your actions during the legislative session to the results of the election season.
Assign Defend The Guard to Committee
Why is the Speaker blocking Defend The Guard?
Every republican senator voted to pass this constitutional bill.
Is Toma financially incentivized to block legislation? Is he taking Katie Hobbs orders and doing her bidding? I cannot understand his actions.
It is time for Toma to return to the private sector if he cannot honor the will of the people of Arizona. Our desires were honored and respected by the Senate when they passed SB1367 and Toma is disrespecting our voice and our vote.
SB1367 should be assigned to Military Affairs committee. Let veterans and constitutional authorities speak on it's merits.
Toma hates the process. He is a tyrant.
