As violence skyrockets in NYC jails, public advocate Jumaane Williams and 38 NYC council members have passed legislation to prevent correction officers from separating violent offenders from the general population. Mayor Adams vetoed the bill, but many in the City Council are considering an override, threatening the lives of everyone in our jails.
